I went to The Warehouse Café in Birmingham to attend a world premiere of the latest piece of writing by Alison Jean Lester, the acclaimed American novelist who now lives in the Midlands. Alison introduced "Talking about Lily 'May" to the audience and then an extract from the story was performed by the actor and musician Tom Clarke Hill. I really enjoyed the performance of the song in the book, Middle of the River, which was specially composed and played that evening. A pleasant relaxing evening of words and music with some interesting people.

Nine of us attended the Book Club evening last night and had a super time. We reviewed "He said, she said" by Erin Kelly and it was highly recommended by everyone. We all enjoyed the book immensely and I do not remember hearing any adverse comments.
